Registered Nurse (General)
Registered Nurses (RNs) are independent practitioners whose main duty is patient care management especially for acute and complicated cases. They are accountable and responsible for clinical decision-making and judgement in patient care. RNs are members of the health care team working collaboratively with other health care professionals for caring patients. They are also the coaches and supervisors of nurse learners and patient care assistants in clinical care. Furthermore, they also contribute to the implementation and the development of innovative practice in nursing. Professionally, they update their knowledge and skills persistently through evidence-based practice, and uphold the standard of nursing practice continuously.
Enrolled Nurse (General)
Promotion, maintenance and restoration of health and prevention of illness are the major responsibilities of nurses in Hong Kong. The role of nurses is evolving in response to changes in the mode of delivery of healthcare services locally and worldwide. Enrolled Nurses (General) [EN] who are equipped with basic nursing competence and professional attributes, practice general nursing under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse (General) [RN].
They are essential members of the healthcare team. The role of EN includes:
- Care provider at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels of healthcare
- Health Promoter
- Client Advocate
- Educator
- Change Supporter
- Professional Nurse Associate
- Research Assistant
- Team Coach
Registered Nurse (General) Training Programme
Professional Diploma in Nursing (PDN) [QF Level 5]
- 300 places per year
- 3 campuses: Caritas Medical Centre, Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Tuen Mun Hospital
